How did you stumble upon this?
I read it today and it is a relatively unknown writer.
also, I agree completely and will endeavor to put the wang back in wangtacular
Yes, yes...this article is awesome. As I said to dock when he let me know of its existence, "I want to get into a fight with this man to earn his respect." Good stuff, really. Sort fo weird that we all read it on the same day...creepy really.
Pffff. I don't buy this "good ol' days when men were men" thing, especially when he's got nothing to back up his side. Isn't he just the kid who's devoted to the Time-Life Library circa 1944 (one-man Nazi skullfuckers, big guns and bigger cigars)?
I mean, I don't like Bright Eyes either, but he's just pitting caricature against caricature.
I do agree with you on that point Mike. I was a bit rash to say that the article points exactly to how I feel.
I think my feelings more follow the fact that artists are no longer rootin' tootin' storied individuals and are kind of lame and wimpy in real life.
The content of their products, which the article focusses on, can be whatever they want as far as I'm concerned. God knows I dont need another Hemingway to not read.
I just want the fight back in those behind the art.
Of course each of is a hybrid of some sembelance of masculine and feminine traits.
But, I think you're wrong Mike. I agree with his points and think he laid out his argument well, and I agree that the pendulum has swung far too far in popular artistic culture away from masculinity.
We need more movies like audition, grunting sacks.
We need more Josh Hommes'.
We need more men.
